Cristian Gort
Cristian Gort graduated from the Montreal Conservatory
of Music, Laval University and the National University of Cordoba
(Argentina), in composition and orchestra conducting. He has
worked in Canada, Argentina, the Netherlands, Brazil, France, the
Czech Republic and Taiwan. Since 2004, he has been the conductor and
artistic director of the Ensemble 'Les Enfants Terribles', Isle
Symphony Orchestra, and the Vocal Ensemble Musica Viva. For the past
three years he has been the assistant conductor to Lorraine
Vaillancourt for the Contemporary Music Workshops at Montreal
University as well as for the Nouvel Ensemble Moderne.
Throughout the years, he has worked with several
ensembles, such as Bradyworks Ensemble, Contemporary Chamber
Orchestra Taipei, Contemporary Music Workshops Ensemble in
Kromériz, Contemporary Opera House Chants Libres, the Suzuki
Institute in Montreal and Edmonton, Montreal and Hull
Conservatories of Music Symphony Orchestras, Cordoba String
Orchestra, among others. He was music and artistic director of the
Vocal Ensemble Florilège, the Société Philharmonique Lanaudoise, and
the La Salle Orchestra in Ottawa. In 2003, he obtained the Santa
Cecilia Award (Argentina).
So far in 2007, he has worked in the production of
Wozzeck , at Lille Opera, in the creations of Analia
LLugdar La faim Artaud, a psicological drama - musical
theatre , Jimmie Leblanc's opera-performance
Perdre Pied, and John Oliver's 'opera augmenté'
Alternate Visions. These works were directed by Alice
Ronfard, Olivia Boudreau and Pauline Vaillancourt, respectively.
